Installing or upgrading OfficeScan removes the McAfee ePO agent in the client machine

When installing or upgrading OfficeScan, it removes the McAfee ePO Agent 3.5, 3.6, 4.6, or 4.8 which is used in conjunction with the following McAfee products:

  • McAfee Host Intrusion Prevention 6.0.0 or 6.0.0.472
  • Product Coverage Report Component version 3.5.5.438
  • McAfee Drive Encryption

To prevent the uninstallation of McAfee ePO agent when installing or upgrading OfficeScan client:

  1. On the OfficeScan server, go to the ..\Program Files\Trend Micro\Officescan\PCCSRV\Admin folder.
  2. Look for and back up the tmuninst.ptn file.
  3. Open the file using a text editor like Notepad. Comment out the entries below with a semicolon (;).
    Here is a sample:

  4. Save and close the file.
  5. Restart the OfficeScan Master Service.
 
If there are any other McAfee programs that require McAfee ePO Agent, this solution also works in preventing automatic uninstallation of McAfee ePO Agent during OfficeScan client installation or upgrade.
