When the automatic uninstallation of PortalProtect fails, use this procedure to manually remove the product.
Before doing the procedure below, if a Control Manager Agent exists, run the Agent uninstall from the Control Panel first.
Do the following:
- Open the Registry Editor.
Always back up the whole registry before making any modifications. Incorrect changes to the registry can cause serious system problems.
- Delete the following registry key:
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Shared Tools\Web Server Extensions\AVScanner
- Close the Registry Editor.
- Restart the IIS service by running iisreset.exe.
- Stop the PortalProtect Service and the Aphost Service from Computer Management or run the following commands:
- For PortalProtect service: "net stop portalprotect"
- For Aphost service: "net stop ppaphost"
- Run the following in the PP install folder:
"regsvr32 ppvendor.dll /u"
- Open the "%ProgramFiles%\Trend Micro\CCGI\commoncgi\config\CCGI_Config.xml file.
- Look for and delete the following element:
"<Alias Name="PortalProtect" ... />"
- Save and close the file.
- Remove the following services by running the corresponding command:
- PortalProtect Service: "PPSrv.exe /u"
- Aphost Service: "PPaphost.exe /u"
- Run the CCGI uninstaller from the Control Panel or run the following from the command line:
"msiexec.exe /x {8F9B7DCB-7D6E-4BF4-BE61-9D0725D81590}"
- Delete the PortalProtect Admin website from the IIS Manager.
- Run this command:
"msiexec /x {D5D9A349-D411-4B75-B62B-46B8D6E721E5}"
