"Trend Micro Plug-in Manager can only be installed locally..." appears when installing the OfficeScan (OSCE) Plug-in Manager

The following error message appears when trying to install the OfficeScan Plug-in Manager:

Trend Micro Plug-in Manager can only be installed locally on a computer with OfficeScan server 10.0/10.5 or above. Remote installation is not supported.

To resolve this issue:

  1. Open the Registry Editor.
     
    Always back up the whole registry before making any modifications. Incorrect changes to the registry can cause serious system problems.
  2. For 32-bit OS, go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\TrendMicro\OfficeScan\service\Information
    For 64-bit OS, go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Wow6432Node\TrendMicro\OfficeScan\service\Information.
  3. Add the following key:

    Name: Min_PLM_Version_Supported
    Type: REG_SZ
    Value Data: 1.0.0.0

  4. Close the Registry Editor.
  5. Try installing the OfficeScan Plug-in Manager again.
