You may receive the error below when renewing the activation code for your Trend Micro products:
The entered activation code has expired. Contact Trend Micro to acquire a new activation code or renew your current license agreement. Enter the valid activation code after installing the product successfully.
This happens because of the expiration date built in to the activation code. When the license key is generated, it has an expiration key that is hardcoded into the key.
When you follow the renewal process, the product needs to reference the Registration Database on the Internet, which has the updated information, including the new expiration date. If the product does not have access to the Internet, it cannot reference the activation code information and will not be aware that the code has been extended.
To resolve this issue, you should allow the server to access the Internet.
If this is not possible and you use a Control Manager (TMCM) server, which has internet access, you can take advantage of the License Management feature in TMCM. This will allow you to activate/renew your activation key and then distribute it to the affected Trend Micro products.
- Log on to the TMCM management console.
- Go to Administration > License Management > Managed products.
- Add and deploy the license key to the selected products.
