Cannot log in to the Worry-Free Business Security (WFBS) console due to ActiveX issues

You are unable to get past the login page of the WFBS console. You encounter a dialog box saying you need to install ActiveX, however there is no ActiveX installation prompting.

To resolve the issue, unregister and re-register ActiveX:

  1. Open ..\Program Files\Trend Micro\Security Server\PCCSRV\Web_console\HTML.
  2. Look for the following files:
    • AtxEnc.dll
    • AtxConsole.ocx
    • AtxPie.dll
    • AtxSmexInst.ocx
  3. Open a command prompt window.
  4. Change the directory to ..\Program Files\Trend Micro\Security Server\PCCSRV\Web_console\HTML.
  5. Unregister the existing files in Step 2 using the following command:

    regsvr32 /u

    For example, to unregister AtxEnc.dll, type the command "regsvr32 /u AtxEnc.dll", and then press ENTER.

  6. Open ..\Program Files\Trend Micro\Security Server\PCCSRV\Web_console\HTML.
  7. Extract the following files to the same directory:
    • AtxEnc.cab
    • AtxConsole.cab
    • AtxPie.cab
    • AtxSmexInst.cab

    To extract the file *.cab files:

    1. Double-click the *.cab file.
    2. Double click the *.ocx or *.dll file.
    3. Browse the location where to extract the file.
    4. Click Extract.
     
    If Windows prompts you to overwrite the file, click Yes.
  8. Open a command prompt window.
  9. Change the directory to ..\Program Files\Trend Micro\Security Server\PCCSRV\Web_console\HTML.
  10. Register the files in Step 2 using the command "regsvr32". 

    For example, to register AtxEnc.dll, type the command "regsvr32 AtxEnc.dll", and then press ENTER.

  11. Log in to the WFBS console.

    If the issue persists, restart the computer and then log on again.

  1. Click Start > Run.
  2. Type "\\server's name or IP address\ofcscan\Web_console\HTML", and then press ENTER.
  3. Copy the following files to ..\Trend Micro\Client Server Security Agent:
    • AtxEnc.dll
    • AtxConsole.ocx
    • AtxPie.dll
    • AtxSmexInst.ocx
  4. Open a command prompt window.
  5. Change the directory to ..\Trend Micro\Client Server Security Agent.
  6. Unregister existing files in Step 3 using the command "regsvr32 /u".

    For example, to unregister AtxEnc.dll, type the command "regsvr32 /u AtxEnc.dll", and then press ENTER.

  7. Type "\\server's name or IP address\ofcscan\Web_console\HTML", and then press ENTER.
  8. Copy the following files:
    • AtxEnc.cab
    • AtxConsole.cabAtxPie.cab
    • AtxSmexInst.cab
  9. Extract the files to ..\Trend Micro\Client Server Security Agent. To extract the file *.cab files:
    1. Double-click the *.cab file.
    2. Double click the *.ocx or *.dll file.
    3. Browse the location where to extract the file.
    4. Click Extract.
     
    If Windows prompts you to overwrite the file, click Yes.
  10. Open a command prompt window.
  11. Change the directory to ..\Trend Micro\Client Server Security Agent.
  12. Register the files in Step 3 using the command "regsvr32".
    For example, to register AtxEnc.dll, type the command "regsvr32 AtxEnc.dll", and then press ENTER.
  13. Log in to the WFBS console.

    If the issue persists, restart the computer and then log in again.
