"Unable to install the Client/Server Security Agent... (Error Copying)" message shows when installing the Client/Server Security Agent (CSA)

Summary

While installing the CSA on a computer running Windows XP or Windows 2003, you get the following error message:

Unable to install the Client/Server Security Agent. Contact Trend Micro Support. (Error copying).

The Ofcnt.log also shows the following:

[InternalCopyOneFile]Load one DLL => Path : c:\temp\{4F5AFDC5-C85F-457E-8903-FBE722B31B74}\{6A8804AF-A6E7-4775-BAA3-E11E76A8EF50}\ Fname : SETUPIO.DLL
InternalCopyOneFile]Copy One file fail. err=2

This error occurs when you install the CSA using any of the following:

  • Remote install
  • Web install
  • Autopcc
  • Install.exe (in PccNT\Disk1)
  • Client Package

To resolve the issue:

  1. Create a Client Package from the Security Server.
  2. Copy the package you created in Step 1 to the machine where the installation failed.
  3. Right-click the package, then click Properties.
  4. Go to the Compatibility tab.
  5. Under the Compatibility mode section, select the Run this program in compatibility mode for option, then choose Windows 2000.

    Run this program in compatibility mode

  6. Click Apply > OK.
  7. Run the package to install the CSA.
