Summary
You want to fully understand how the "Reject the message" and “Bypass this rule” scan actions work when scanning Microsoft Office 2007/2010 and compressed archive files.
Details
Public
The Virus rule in the Policy Page has additional actions under Scan Limitations for Microsoft Office 2007/2010 and compressed archive files. These are the following:
Reject the message
If Office 2007/2010 or compressed archive files contains more than 353 files, selecting this action will cause the email to be rejected or bounced by HES.
Bypass this rule
If Office 2007/2010 or compressed archive file contains more than 353 files, selecting this action will cause the email to not be scanned by the Virus policy; all succeeding rules in the policy will still take effect.
You can select the actions separately for Office 2007/2010 files and compressed archive. For example:
This means that if an email has an attachment of Office 2007/2010 and contains more than 353 files, HES will bypass the virus rule and proceed to the next rule for scanning. If the email has an attachment of a compressed archive and contains more than 353 files, HES will reject/bounce the message.
