Public

The "Exclude Microsoft Exchange server folders from scanning" feature is only applicable to Exchange 2000 and 2003. For Exchange 2007, 2010, 2013, and 2016, specific exclusions based on this Microsoft article must be manually added:

File-Level Antivirus Scanning on Exchange 2016

When the feature is enabled, OfficeScan will not scan the Exchange server folders for virus/malware and spyware/grayware when performing a Manual Scan, Real-time Scan, Scheduled Scan and Scan Now.

To detect the Exchange server information, OfficeScan uses WindowsAPI to automatically exclude files and folders within Exchange.

The following registry keys can be checked to confirm the exclusion settings on the OfficeScan client on the Exchange server:

Always back up the whole registry before making any modifications. Incorrect changes to the registry can cause serious system problems.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\TrendMicro\PC-cillinNTCorp\CurrentVersion\Misc

  • ExcludeExchangeStore
  • ExcludeExchangeStoreFiles
  • ExcludeExchangeStoreFolders

The "ExcludeExchangeStore" key is set to "1" by default if the Exchange exclusion is enabled. "ExcludeExchangeStoreFiles" and "ExcludeExchangeStoreFolders" keys show the actual excluded files and folders. You can check if the key value matches the Exchange folder path.

Here is an example of the Exchange 2003 folders and files excluded in OfficeScan when this option is enabled:

Files:

..\Exchsrvr\mdbdata\priv1.stm
..\Exchsrvr\mdbdata\priv1.edb.
..\Exchsrvr\mdbdata\pub1.stm
..\Exchsrvr\mdbdata\pub1.edb

Folders:

..\Exchsrvr\mdbdata\
..\Exchsrvr\Storage Group\
..\Exchsrvr\Mailroot\vsi 1\Queue\.
..\Exchsrvr\Mailroot\vsi 1\PickUp\
..\Exchsrvr\Mailroot\vsi 1\BadMail\

For Exchange 2003, you may need to manually add other files or folders based on Microsoft's recommendations. For more information, refer to this article:
