This solution article provides the procedure on how to manually remove the Trend Micro Security for Mac server.
  1. Stop the Trend Micro Security server and Plug-in Manager services from the Microsoft Management console (services.msc).
    • ActiveMQ for Trend Micro Security - (ActiveMQ4TMSM)
    • Trend Micro Security (for Mac) - (TMSMMainService)
    • SQL server - (TMSM)
    • OfficeScan Plug-in Manager - (OfcAosMgr)
  2. Remove the following from Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs:
    • Java 6 Update 14
    • Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express (for Trend Micro Security)
      Note: Select “TMSM: Database Engine” to uninstall.
    • Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable
  3. Open Registry Editor (regedit.exe ) and remove the following registry keys for the Trend Micro Security services:
    Important: Always back up the whole registry before making any modifications. Incorrect changes to the registry can cause serious system problems.
    • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/Services/ActiveMQ4TMSM
    • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/Services/TMSMMainService
    • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/Services/Trend Micro Security (for Mac)
    You can also use the "sc" command to delete the service registry keys. Refer to the Microsoft article: How to create a Windows service by using Sc.exe.
  4. Remove these registry entries:
    • For 32-bit OS:
      • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/TrendMicro/OfficeScan/service/Aos
      • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Installer
      • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Installer
      • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Uninstall
    • For 64-bit OS:
      • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Wow6432Node/TrendMicro/OfficeScan /service/Aos/OSCE_ADDON_TMSM
      • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Installer
      • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Classes/Installer/Products/{14B690AA-4527
      • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Wow6432Node/Microsoft/Windows
  5. Modify the following registry keys:
    • For 32-bit OS:
      Key: OSCE_Addon_Service_CompList_Version
      Type: REG_SZ
      Value: 1.0.1000
    • For 64-bit OS:
      Key: OSCE_Addon_Service_CompList_Version
      Type: REG_SZ
      Value: 1.0.1000
  6. Remove Trend Micro Security files/directories.
    1. Go to the server installation folder and ensure that all files have been removed. The default folder path is C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\Security Server\Addon\TMSM.
    2. Remove the Trend Micro Security installation packages:
      • C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\Security Server\PCCSRV\Download\enu\
      • C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\Security Server\PCCSRV\Download\enu\
      Note: The "enu" folder stands for English. In other languages of TMSM, the folder name will change accordingly. Example: "jpn" for Japan, "fra" for French", "esp" for Spanish,"deu" for German, and "rus" for Russian.
  7. Modify the server.ini file.
    1. Open the server.ini file. The default location is C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\SecurityServer\PCCSRV\Download.
    2. Set the version number of "Build" and "PA_Version" to 1000. See text in boldface below:
           Update_Path=product/enu/, ####
           Path=product/, ######
  8. Remove the Trend Micro Security database files/directories.
    1. Obtain the value of HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/Microsoft SQL Server/Instance Names/SQL/TMSM in registry. This value indicates the folder name where TMSM database is stored by SQL server.
    2. Remove the file under "C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\" + "value of TMSMkey". The value would be something like MSSQL.X (where "X" is a number).
    3. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/Microsoft SQL Server/Instance Names/SQL and remove the string that has these values:
      Name: TMSM
      Type: REG_SZ
      Data: MSSQL.x
    4. Remove HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/Microsoft SQL Server/MSSQL.x.
    5. Remove HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/Microsoft SQL Server/TMSM.
  9. Restart the computer.
