Manually uninstalling Encryption for Email (TMEE)

Manually remove TMEE if you encounter any of the following:
  • You are unable to reinstall the product.
  • You want to ensure all TMEE components are removed.

To manually uninstall TMEE:
  1. Right-click the TMEE Padlock tray icon, and then click Shutdown > Exit.
  2. Go to Add/Remove Programs and uninstall Trend Micro Encryption for Email.
  3. Delete the contents of C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\Encryption for Email.
  4. Delete the C:\Documents and Settings\username>\Application Data\Identum folder.
    Note: Windows Vista has this folder under C:\Users\\AppData\Roaming\Identum folder.
  5. Delete the following registry keys:
    Important: Always back up the whole registry before making any modifications. Incorrect changes to the registry can cause serious system problems.
    • For 32-bit OS:
      • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Identum Limited
      • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\TrendMicro\TMEC
      • HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Identum Limited
    • For 64-bit OS:
      • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\WOW6432Node\Identum Limited
      • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\TrendMicro\TMEC
      • HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Identum Limited
  6. Restart the machine.
