Incoming mails not processed by ScanMail for Exchange (SMEX) that is installed in Microsoft Exchange 2010

Summary
You notice that the ScanMail Realtime Monitor is not showing scanned emails. When you issue "Get-TransportAgent" in the powershell (or Exchange Management Shell), both the ScanMail Routing Agent and SMTP Receive Agents are not installed/enabled.
The following appears in the SMEX_SetupHelper.log file:

To resolve the issue:
  1. Check if PowerShell snap-in (Microsoft.Exchange.Management.PowerShell.E2010) is installed in the target machine. For more information, refer to the Microsoft article: Get-PSSnapin.
  2. Reinstall SMEX. You can use the SMEX setup to uninstall existing SMEX instance or follow the steps in the article Manually uninstalling from the Exchange 2010/2007 Edge Transport or Hub Transport Servers to make sure that no traces of SMEX is left before you proceed with a fresh install.
