Summary

After an in-place upgrade to OfficeScan 10.6, you can no longer see majority of the clients in the management console. You associated this issue to a database corruption where you can use the database backup that you created before upgrading the server. However, due to the different database structure, the old backup cannot be restored and used directly on the new OfficeScan server.

This article provides the steps on how you can restore the old OfficeScan database and use it on the OfficeScan 10.6 server.

To restore the Old OfficeScan database and upgrade it to version 10.6, please do the following:

  1. Stop the OfficeScan Master Service.
  2. Create a backup of all the files in the HTTPDB directory of the OfficeScan 10.6 server.
  3. Remove all files from the HTTPDB directory and copy the old OfficeScan database files there.
  4. Create the SVCINFO.LOG file in the OfficeScan server program directory. By default it is located in ..\Trend Micro\OfficeScan\PCCSRV\directory.

    The following are the content of the SVCINFO.LOG file:

    [DBMIGRATE_INFO]
    ProductID=6
    FromVersion=< The version of the old officescan database you are trying to restore >

    SourcePath=<path to database directory, by default C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\OfficeScan\PCCSRV\HTTPDB>
    DestPath=<path to directory where resulting database files will be generated.
    By default C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\OfficeScan\PCCSRV\HTTPDB > IniPath=<path to ofcscan.ini file of current OSCE installation, by default C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\OfficeScan\PCCSRV> UninstallPwd=< "Uninstall_Pwd" value of ofcscan.ini file in "INIT_CLIENT_SECTION" section> UnloadPwd=<"Unload_Pwd" value of ofcscan.ini file in "INIT_CLIENT_SECTION" section>

  5. Save and close the file.
  6. Start the SVRSVCSETUP.exe file from the OfficeScan program directory using the following command:

    SVRSVCSETUP.exe -dbmigrate

    After running the program, the HTTP directory will contain the converted OfficeScan 10.6 database files.

  7. Start the OfficeScan Master Service.

    You will notice on the management console that the clients are visible and there are still using the version from the old database. You can rectify the client's information by updating the clients or performing Update Now.
