"Can't find agent GUID of this entity" appears when reinstalling the ServerProtect Control Manager Agent

Summary

When Control Manager is running on the machine where you tried reinstalling the ServerProtect Control Manager Agent, the reinstallation will fail with the following error message:

"Can't find agent GUID of this entity"

To resolve this issue, do the following:

  1. Stop the Trend Micro Management Infrastructure service.
  2. Uninstall the ServerProtect Control Manager Agent again.
  3. Go to ..\Program Files\Trend Micro\COMMON\TMI and delete the following:
    mrf_entity.bak
    mrf_server.bak
    mrf_entity.dat
    mrf_server.dat
  4. Start the Trend Micro Management Infrastructure service. This will recreate the deleted files.
  5. Install the ServerProtect Control Manager Agent.
