Specifying file names and extension names to be excluded from the Attachment Blocking feature in ScanMail for Exchange (SMEX)

Exclude a list of files from the Attachment Blocking feature of SMEX.

  1. Open the Registry Editor.
     
    Always back up the whole registry before making any modifications. Incorrect changes to the registry can cause serious system problems.
  2. Go to HKLM\SOFTWARE\TrendMicro\ScanMail for Exchange\CurrentVersion.
  3. Add the following String Value key:

    ForceExcludeFileName

  4. Set the corresponding Data Value for each key.
    Separate multiple items using a semicolon (;).
     
    Make sure to include the extension name of the file that you are excluding.
  5. Exit the Registry Editor.
  • Open the Registry Editor.

  • Go to HKLM\SOFTWARE\TrendMicro\ScanMail for Exchange\CurrentVersion.
  • Add the following String Value key:

    ForceExcludeFileExtn

  • Set the type of key as "REG_SZ (String)".
  • Set the corresponding Data Value for each key.
    Separate multiple items using a semicolon (;).

    Below is a sample to exclude MMAP files from being blocked:

    Path: HKLM\SOFTWARE\TrendMicro\ScanMail for Exchange CurrentVersion
    Key: ForceExcludeFileExtn
    Type: REG_SZ (string)
    Value: mmap
    Description: Type the file extensions to exclude.

  • Exit the Registry Editor.
