Summary
Fix the following issues regarding decryption on FDE:
- The decrypt function stops when using the Decrypt CD.
- Recover data from a failed drive, which is fully encrypted by FDE.
Details
Below are the issues and their corresponding solutions:
Decrypt function stops when using Decrypt CD
The Decrypt CD decryption process must not be interrupted nor manually stopped by an administrator or Help Desk technician.
Decryption process appears to be halted when the Decrypt CD encounters a bad sector. The Decrypt CD decrypts the bad sector 1,000 times. When it fails to decrypt the bad sector, it will move to the next one and continue decrypting the drive.
A large number of bad sectors on a disk extends the decryption time.
Recover data from a failed drive
Endpoint Encryption has no preferred hard drive recovery company to roll back your data from a failed drive.
If your chosen recovery company can restore and provide the full image of your drive, Endpoint Encryption can work with you to attempt decrypting the drive.
If your chosen recovery company can only roll back selected or partial image, Endpoint Encryption driver will be unable to return any useful information from your drive.
