"Widget Framework Error" appears in the OfficeScan (OSCE) console

Summary

On the Summary section of the OfficeScan web console, the following error message appears:

Widget Framework Error: (adding user) Adding [users] failed:
SQLSTATE[HY000]: General error: 8 attempt to write a readonly databasecreating user failed

The Widget Framework Error can be resolved by modifying the permissions for the following folders:

  • ..\Trend Micro\OfficeScan\PCCSRV\Web_OSCE\Web_console\HTML\widget\repository\db\sqlite\
  • ..\Trend Micro\OfficeScan\PCCSRV\Web_OSCE\Web_console\HTML\widget\repository\inc\class\common\crypt

To do this:

  1. Make sure that everyone has the following permissions:
    • Read & execute
    • List folder contents
    • Read
    • Write
  2. "IUSR" must have the following permissions:
    • Read & execute
    • List folder contents
    • Read
    • Write
    • Modify
  3. After modifying the permissions, do the following:
    1. Close the current web browser.
    2. Restart the OfficeScan Master Service.
    3. Restart IIS Admin or Apache.
  4. Log in to the OfficeScan web console and verify that the widget is appearing properly.

If the issue persists, perform these additional steps:

  • Make sure that “Everyone” has Full Control on the C:\Windows\Temp directory.
  • Repeat steps 3 and 4.
