Summary

SMEX installed on an Exchange 2010 Mailbox Server Role displays the Spam Prevention feature on the console instead of the Manual Scan and Scheduled Scan options.

The error below shows up in the InstSetupHelper.log file:

To resolve this issue:

  1. Check if the PowerShell snap-in (Microsoft.Exchange.Management.PowerShell.E2010) is installed on the target machine. For more information, refer to this article: Export-Mailbox and Import-Mailbox commands missing.
  2. Reinstall SMEX. You can use the SMEX setup to uninstall any existing SMEX instance, or manually uninstall SMEX to make sure that no traces of SMEX is left before you proceed with a fresh install.
