“Device Enrollment Unsuccessful...” appears when enrolling an iOS device in Hosted Mobile Security (HMS)

The following error message appears when there is no Apple Push Notification Service (APNS) certificate uploaded in the HMS account:
Device Enrollment Unsuccessful. Unable to enroll this device. Please ask your administrator to import an Apple Push Notification Service (APNs) Certificate.
Please contact your administrator for assistance.

To resolve this issue, ensure the following have been established before enrolling an iOS device:
  • The device operating system version is included in the Device Requirement list for HMS
  • The device has Internet connection to receive the enrollment invitation and connect to the HMS server to complete the enrollment
  • A valid HMS license
  • A valid APNS certificate has been uploaded by the administrator in APNS Certificate settings
