Summary
When you try to upgrade TMCM 5.5 to version 6.0, the following error message appears:
"Invalid Activation Codes. Valid Activation Codes are 31 characters in length and use the following format...".
This error shows right after you click Next on the Check Local System Environment screen. You have to end the task using the Task Manager to remove the error message.
Details
This issue happens because of an expired trial activation code (AC) previously used for the Outbreak Prevention (OPP). The setup program detects this expired trial license, preventing the upgrade.
To resolve the issue, remove the expired AC from TMCM:
- Log out from TMCM Web console.
- Rename the file ..\<ControlManager>\OP.bin to OP.bin.bak.
- Stop the following services:
- Trend Micro Common CGI
- Trend Micro Control Manager
- Trend Micro Management Infrastructure
- Backup the ..\<Control Manager>\PRRecord.xml file, then open it with a text editor (e.g. Notepad).
- Remove the entries for the expired OPP license by deleting all characters starting from:
<Group Type="OP"> to Value="OP.bin"></P></Group>
- Start the service back up, then run the upgrade again.
