Use the Permission Groups to define and restrict permissions for using the SafeSync service. There are three permission groups:
- Security group: Grants the permission to use the SafeSync service.
- Shareable links: Disables the permission to create new shareable links, and to change or remove existing shareable links.
- Team folders: Disables the permission to create team folders, and to change or delete existing team folders
To define the usage permissions, do one of the following methods:
- Log on to the SafeSync web console.
- Go to Administrator > Active Directory Integration. The Active Directory Integration screen appears.
- Click the Permission Groups tab.
- Check the default names in the following fields:
- Security group: safesync-users
- Shareable links: safesync-no-shareable-links
- Team folders: safesync-no-team-folders
- Create a new group in the Active Directory using the name in the Security group field.
- Under the safesync-users security group, create two more groups using the names in the Shareable links and Team folders fields.
- Assign Active Directory users and groups to these new groups accordingly.
- In the Active Directory, choose three groups for the SafeSync service.
Example: The administrator chooses groups A, B, and C.
- Group A: SafeSync users
- Groups B and C: This group is nested under group A. Users in group B cannot use the shareable link feature, and those in group C cannot use the team folder feature.
- Log on to the SafeSync web console.
- Go to Administrator > Active Directory Integration. The Active Directory Integration screen appears.
- Click the Permission Groups tab.
- In the Security group, Shareable links, and Team folders fields, type the names of the three groups accordingly.
- Click Save.
