Make sure that your OfficeScan server and clients are updated to 10.6 Service Pack 1 Patch 1 (or Patch 1.1).

On your OfficeScan server, do the following:

  1. Open the Ofcscan.ini file in the \PCCSRV\ folder on the OfficeScan installation directory.
  2. Add the following keys under the Global Setting section and set the appropriate values:

    [Global Setting]
    EnableRTScanUSBInsert={x}
    USBScanConfirm={y}

    Where "x":

    0 = (default) do not perform an automatic real-time scan on a USB device after users plug in the device
    1 = automatically perform a real-time scan on a USB storage device after users plug in the device

    Where "y":

    0 = (default) do not prompt users to scan USB devices upon insertion
    1 = prompt users to decide whether to perform a scan on USB devices upon insertion

    "EnableRTScanUSBInsert" in OSCE 11.0 Patch 1 was replaced by "USBScanTouch" in OSCE 11.0 and OSCE 11.0 SP1 CP 6054. "USBScanTouch" is the same as "EnableRTScanUSBInsert". In OSCE 11.0, the customer can change the setting in the UI to use the "USBScanTouch" key.
  3. Open the OfficeScan server web console and go to the Networked Computers > Global Client Settings page.
  4. Click Save to deploy the setting to clients.

The OfficeScan client program automatically installs the following registry key/s:

Path: HKLM\SOFTWARE\TrendMicro\PC-cillinNTCorp\CurrentVersion\Real Time Scan Configuration\
Key: EnableRTScanUSBInsert
Value: 1

Path: HKLM\SOFTWARE\TrendMicro\PC-cillinNTCorp\CurrentVersion\Real Time Scan Configuration\
Key: USBScanConfirm
Value: 1

In OfficeScan 11.0, the setting to scan USB is via console. Delete the "USBScanTouch" or "EnableRTScanUSBInsert" entry from the ofcscan.ini (server) and client registry if you enabled it there.
