Exporting/Importing certificate from the existing to a new Intrusion Defense Firewall (IDF) server

Summary

Reinstalling the OfficeScan (OSCE) server on the same box along with IDF will both reuse the same certificate. Export the existing IDF server certificate to a new IDF sever without re-activating any IDF clients.

This will only work if IDF is installed on the same OSCE server where the back files were taken.

Backup process

  1. Backup the following files under Addon\Intrusion Defense Firewall directory:
    • .keystore
    • configuration.properties

    Backup these additional files if they are found in the same directory:

    • IDFBackup.sql
    • IDFRestore.sql
    • Intrusion Defense Firewall.vmoptions
    • IDFBackup.bat
    • IDFRestore.bat
  2. Backup the dsm.properties file found under Intrusion Defense Firewall\webclient\webapps\ROOT\WEB-INF
  3. Backup the entire IDF database. If using SQL Server, you can use the standard method to backup the database. If using SQL Express, follow these steps:
    1. Stop the Intrusion Defense Firewall service.
    2. Stop the SQL Server (IDF) service.
    3. Go to C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.1\MSSQL\Data directory.
    4. Copy the IDF.mdf and IDF_log.LDF to another location.
    5. Start the SQL Server (IDF) service.
    6. Start the Intrusion Defense Firewall service.
  4. Backup the following registry key:

    Hkey_Local_Machine\Software\TrendMicro\OfficeScan\Addon\IDF

Restore process

After installing a new IDF server, perform a recovery by doing the following:

  1. Stop the Intrusion Defense Firewall service.
  2. Copy all the backup files to their original location.

    The Intrusion Defense Firewall directory

    • .keystore
    • configuration.properties
    • IDFBackup.sql
    • IDFRestore.sql
    • Intrusion Defense Firewall.vmoptions
    • IDFBackup.bat
    • IDFRestore.bat

    The Intrusion Defense Firewall\webclient\webapps\ROOT\WEB-INF directory

    • dsm.properties
  3. Restore the database. Do the following:
    1. Stop the SQL Service (IDF) service
    2. Go to C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.1\MSSQL\Data directory.
    3. Replace the IDF.mdf and IDF_log.LDF with the backup copy.
    4. Start the SQL Service (IDF) service
  4. Restore the registry key hive.

    Hkey_Local_Machine\Software\TrendMicro\OfficeScan\Addon\IDF

  5. Start the Intrusion Defense Firewall service.
  6. Log on to the web console and perform a check status on all machines to verify connectivity with the IDF Clients.
