Summary

Learn how to migrate from a third-party antivirus program to Worry-Free Business Security (WFBS).

Third-party antivirus programs must be uninstalled from the computer before installing the WFBS agent to prevent any conflict or issues on the system (e.g  slow performance of the computer, BSOD due to conflicting drivers).

Do the following:

  1. Check whether WFBS Agent can automatically uninstall the third-party antivirus program. For the list of third-party antivirus programs, refer to this article: Third-party software that Worry-Free Business Security (WFBS) is able and unable to remove.
    • If the third-party software is listed under antivirus programs that can be detected and uninstalled, you can:
      • Run the WFBS agent setup on top of the third-party software to detect and remove it.
      • Uninstall the third-party software using the Add/Remove Programs under Control Panel.
    • If the third-party software is listed under antivirus programs that can be detected but cannot be uninstalled, you have to uninstall it using Add/Remove Programs under Control Panel.
    • Other antivirus programs not listed will not be detected and uninstalled by WFBS. However, Trend Micro Technical Support can help you modify the WFBS agent installer to detect these antivirus programs. Before contacting Trend Micro Technical Support:
      • Prepare the installer of the third-party software.
      • If the installer can no longer be retrieved, you can uninstall the third-party software using Add/Remove Programs under Control Panel.

If you encounter any problems uninstalling the third-party software, you need to contact the vendor of the third-party software.

WFBS only launches the removal tool of the third-party software and it does not have the capability to troubleshoot uninstallation issues
  2. After the third-party antivirus program has been removed from the computer, you can proceed with installing the WFBS agent.
