Configuring bandwidth throttling on an Integrated Smart Scan Server

Summary

In Smart Protection Server 1.x and 2.0, the bandwidth throttling for Full download of bf.ptn is enabled by default. If bandwidth is not an issue, you can modify the default values to increase the number of current connections. Increasing the values will result in faster download for remote smart scan clients.

To modify the bandwidth throttling values:
  1. Stop the Trend Micro Smart Scan Server service.
  2. Go to ..\Trend Micro \Security Server\PCCSRV\wss directory.
  3. Open the ptngrowth.ini file.
  4. Modify the values below:
    MAX_UPDATE_CONNECTION=
    UPDATE_WAIT_SECOND=
    Note: The value can range from 0 to 2147483647.
    To help you properly set the values above, use the following data as reference: 1000 online clients do 7MB full update.
    NETWORK BANDWIDTH100 Mbps, Throughput = 12 MB/s10 Mbps, Throughput = 1.2 MB/s512 Kbps, Throughput = 64 Kb/s

  5. Save and close the file.
  6. Start the Trend Micro Smart Scan Server service.
