Summary

TmExtins.exe error appears on Windows 7 and Windows XP after upgrading from OfficeScan 10.5 to OfficeScan 10.6 SP2. The following error may appear on the client computer:

Error: Trend Micro Browser plugin installer encounter an error and need to close
Event: Application failed TmExtins.exe

The issue occurs on computers installed with Mozilla Firefox. In some cases, the error appears on newly installed OfficeScan 10.6 SP2 on Windows XP.

To resolve this issue, install Hot Fix Build 3363 on the OfficeScan server. Trend Micro recommends installing OfficeScan 10.6 SP2 before installing this hot fix.

If the issue occurs after installing OfficeScan 10.6 Service Pack 3, install Hot Fix Build 5201.

 
Hot fixes are downloadable code fixes for bugs or specific issues encountered by specific customers. Hot fixes are meant to be interim solutions that will eventually be consolidated into a patch or service pack for your product.
Trend Micro recommends applying patches or service packs instead of individual hot fixes whenever possible.
