    • Updated:
    • 5 Aug 2013
    • Product/Version:
    • InterScan Messaging Security Suite 7.1 Linux
    • Platform:
    • Linux - Red Hat RHEL 6 32-bit
Summary
Enable the MML message detection feature on IMSS 7.1 for Linux.
Details
Public
The latest IMSS 7.1 for Linux patch includes an MML message detection feature. When you enable this feature, the daemon queries the MML ERS to check whether the upstream IP address is in the MML list. The daemon will tag the mail’s subject according to the user’s settings. The tag content only supports English.
The daemon parses the latest Received header from mail to get the sender’s IP address. To query the MML ERS zone, the daemon reverses the IP address and composes the FQDN. Once it has the IP address, it treats this message as an ERS message and tags the subject. The daemon adds the MML x-header “TMASE_XHEADER_ERS” if you enable the MML feature. To get the MML results, the daemon adds the MML x-header “TMASE_XHEADER_MML”.
To enable:
  1. Download and install IMSS 7.1 for Linux Patch 3.
  2. Using a text editor, open the imss.ini file.
  3. Under the [mml] section, add the following lines:
    [mml]
enable_mml = yes (To enable the MML message detection feature) or
enable_mml = no (To disable the MML message detection feature)
mml_subject_tag = (The mail subject tag in English)

Note: By default, mml_subject_tag is empty.

mml_exception_ip_list = (The list of IP addresses and groups to be added on the exception list.)

Note: The delimiter is ";" for individual IP addresses and "/" between IP and mask for group IP addresses. Example: 192.168.0.1;192.168.0.1;192.168.2.0/255.255.255.0.
  4. Save the changes and close the file.
  5. Restart the Trend Micro IMSS Scan Service.
