    • Platform:
    • Ubuntu 10.04 64-bit
Summary
When configuring the Domain setting to domain.local in the SSFE administration console, the following error appears:
Domain name is not valid
The domain name is not valid. Specify a valid domain name and try again.
Details
Public
By default, SSFE can only be configured to use a domain address with up to three (3) characters in the top level domain (TLD), such as .com, .net, and .edu. When the domain extension or TLD is more than three characters, such as .local, you will receive the error mentioned above.
To allow SSFE to accept any number of characters in the TLD:
  1. Log in to the SafeSync server shell.
  2. Look for the file /opt/SingleInstaller/MgmtUI/root/js/admin_system_settings.js and open it using any text editor.
    Note: Create a backup copy of the file before you make any changes to it.
  3. Look for the line that contains:
    var domain_regex = /^\w+([\.-]?\w+)*(\.\w{2,3})+$/;
    Change this line to:
    var domain_regex = /^([a-z0-9]+\.)?[a-z0-9][a-z0-9-]*\.[a-z]{2,6}$/i;
  4. Save the changes that you made.
  5. Restart the Management UI service by running the command "supervisorctl restart mgmtui" from the shell.
