Upgrading to Deep Security Virtual Appliance (DSVA) 9.5 from earlier versions is not supported

Summary
When upgrading DSVA to version 9.5.2.2022, you encounter the following message:
Upgrading to Deep Security Virtual Appliance 9.5+ from versions earlier than 9.5 is not supported. Please delete the old Virtual Appliance from the vCenter and then deploy the new version.

By design, upgrading DSVA to 9.5 is not supported.
Deactivate the old version of DSVA and then deploy DSVA 9.5:
  1. Deactivate the old DSVA version on the Deep Security Manager (DSM).
  2. Shutdown the DSVA.
  3. From the vCenter, delete the DSVA.
  4. Deploy DSVA 9.5.
