Incoming mails with attachments are queued for delivery with an error message "Timed out while sending end of data"

Summary
Some incoming emails are queued for delivery. The mails contain attachments that are password-protected. When checking mail tracking logs, it shows the following error message:
Conversation with x.x.x.x [x.x.x.x] timed out while sending end of data -- message may be sent more than once.

To resolve the issue:
Verify that HES servers are allowed to send traffic in case you are restricting traffic in your network. Refer to the following KB article: Accepting emails coming only from Hosted Email Security (HES) servers.
Check if your firewall has a gateway virus scanning feature and if it is enabled. Otherwise, contact Trend Micro Technical Support for further assistance.
If you are using Sonic Wall, do the following:
  1. Go to Security Services > Gateway Anti-Virus.
  2. Click the Settings button under SMTP.
  3. Check if the Restrict Transfer of password-protected ZIP files is enabled.
