"Windows could not start Apache 2.2..." appears after upgrading to OfficeScan (OSCE) 11.0

Summary

After upgrading OSCE to version 11.0, the Apache 2.2 is unable to start and you cannot log into the console. The following error shows:

Windows could not start Apache 2.2 on local computer.

Upong checking the error on the event viewer, the following appears:

The Apache service named reported the following error:
>>> httpd.exe: Syntax error on line 1621 of E:/Program Files (x86)/Trend
Micro/OfficeScan/PCCSRV/Apache2/conf/httpd.conf: Cannot load C:/Program Files
(x86)/PHP/php5apache2.dll into server: The specified module could not be found.

The web server serves as the update component. During the installation, the settings are copied to ...\PCCSRV\Apache2\conf\httpd.conf.

To solve this issue:

  1. Open the cmd.exe and run as administrator.
  2. Navigate to PCCSRV\ on OfficeScan 11.0 installation directory.
  3. Execute the following command:

    Svrsvcsetup.exe -uninstall

  4. Cut the httpd.conf from ...\PCCSRV\Apache2\conf\ and paste the file to another location such as desktop.
  5. Run the command below:

    Svrsvcsetup.exe -install

  6. Execute the following command:

    Svrsvcsetup.exe -setprivilege

  7. You may opt to enable SSL by running the following command:

    Svrsvcsetup.exe -enablessl

  8. Manually start the Apache 2.2 service.
