Cannot update the Product License of InterScan Messaging Security Virtual Appliance (IMSVA)

Know what you can do when you are unable to update the Product License of IMSVA.

Public

Do the following:

  1. Verify connection to the License Update Server:
    1. Open the command line interface (CLI).
    2. Type the command:

      ping licenseupdate.trendmicro.com

      You should get a result similar to:

      PING licenseupdate.trendmicro.com (66.180.84.8) 56(84) bytes of data.
      64 bytes from 66.180.84.8: icmp_seq=1 ttl=245 time=218 ms
    3. Type the command:

      telnet licenseupdate.trendmicro.com 80

      You should get a result similar to:

      Trying 66.180.84.8...
      Connected to licenseupdate.trendmicro.com.
    If the above tests are successful and you cannot update the license, continue with the succeeding steps.
  2. Check the license validity from the Customer Licensing Portal:
    1. Enter the following URL on a browser:

      Enter the URL below on a browser: https://clp.trendmicro.com/ProductInformation/ProductDetail/?ac=xx-xxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx

    2. Replace the xx-xxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx with your Activation Code.
    3. Press "Enter" keyto see the results.
  3. If you have configured IPv6 please make sure if IPv6 is supported in your environment. If it is not supported, disable IPv6 in IMSVA:
    1. Go to IMSVA Configuration > Configuration Wizard.
    2. On the Network Settings page, verify if you have unchecked IPv6.

    When you disable IPv6 in IMSVA, it will not automatically disable IPv6 in CentOS.
    Please check this KB on how to disable IPv6 in CentOS.

If the tests fail, check your firewall, network/proxy settings.
