This article contains instructions on how to perform an in-place upgrade to Windows 10 Anniversary Update (Redstone Update 1 version 1607) from Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 TH1/TH2.
In Windows 10, major updates are performed the same way as doing an in-place upgrade. If a system is fully encrypted using the Trend Micro Full Disk Encryption agent, the upgrade fails because it requires drivers to access the data on the disk.
In the Windows 10 Anniversary Update RU1 release, Microsoft provides a new command line parameter /ReflectDrivers. It specifies the path to a folder that contains encryption drivers for a computer that has third-party encryption enabled. PnP will install these drivers so that when WinRE is brought up, the driver is installed and the upgrade can continue.
The syntax for this command line is:
Setup.exe /ReflectDrivers <folder containing the encryption driver>
- Copy the drivers in a folder named C:\tmfde5.0p4update1_RS1.
- Download the Windows 10 Anniversary Update ISO from Microsoft.
- Run Setup.exe /ReflectDrivers C:\tmfde5.0p4update1_RS1
Contact Trend Micro Technical Support to request for the drivers.
Trend Micro recommends to ensure all Windows updates are applied before upgrading the Operating System to Windows 10 Anniversary Update RU1. It can reduce the possibility of encountering errors during the upgrade.
