The Installation Cleanup Utility helps remove traces of SMEX 12.5 from a machine after a failed installation or a successful uninstallation.
- This utility can only be used in non-cluster environments.
- Unregister SMEX 12.5 from Trend Micro Control Manager(TMCM) before running this utility.
Follow these steps to remove traces of SMEX 12.5 from your computer.
- Request for the Installation Cleanup Utility from Technical Support.
- Log on to the computer using an account with the correct privileges as specified in the ScanMail Installation and Upgrade Guide.
- Unregister SMEX 12.5 from TMCM.
- Extract the Installation Cleanup Utility to a temporary folder, for example C:\Temp.
- Open a Command Prompt on your computer, and go to the folder (C:\Temp as the example) where the script is installed.
- Run the following command:
cscript Smex125Cleanup.vbs /Path:"C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\SMEX"

- Click Yes to proceed with the uninstallation.

- The cleanup utility will proceed to remove SMEX components from your server.
This removal procedure will take some time to complete. Do not close this command prompt until you see the message "Remove SMEX binaries ...OK":
