Device Control is not blocking all USB storage devices that were set to the “Block” action and the Data Loss Protection (DLP) license is shown as expired on the Data Protection Plugin.
Root Cause
In OfficeScan XG pre-Service Pack 1 (SP1) builds, the Data Loss Prevention (DLP) function will continue to work even if the license is expired. However, since OfficeScan XG Service Pack 1, the DLP function has been disabled and ceases to function after a DLP license expiration is detected.
In this scenario, it was also found that a scheduled online license update is only applied to an OfficeScan activation code (AC), but not the specific type of AC that covers the DLP license. This explains why there were some instances of DLP being disabled after the OfficeScan XG SP1 upgrade.
Solution
The DLP license can be updated manually by inputting the new AC or updating the license manually in the OfficeScan web console: Plug-in Manager > OfficeScan Data Protection > View License Information > OfficeScan Data Protection License Details.
