Grayware refers to applications that have annoying, undesirable, or undisclosed behavior but do not fall into any of the major threat categories such as Virus, Trojan, and Worm. Spyware falls under the Grayware category. It is an application that monitors, gathers personal information, and sends to a third party without the user’s knowledge or consent.
There are instances wherein a user’s application is detected as Spyware/Grayware. In the event that the application is verified to be malicious, the detection cannot be lifted. Learn how to exclude Spyware/Grayware detections in different Trend Micro products.
- Log on to the OfficeScan management console.
- Go to Agents > Agent Management.
- In the Agent Tree, select the OfficeScan Server/Domain/Computer.
- Go to Settings > Spyware/Grayware Approved List.
- Select the detection name from the left column and then click Add. The detection name should appear on the right column (Approved List).
- Click Save.
- Log on to WFBS management console.
- Go to Devices.
- Select the group and click Configure Policy.
- Click Antivirus/Anti-spyware.
- Go to Advanced Settings and click Modify Spyware/Grayware Approved List.
- Select the detection name from the left column and then click Add. The detection name should appear on the right column (Approved List).
- Click Save.
- Log on to the Worry-Free Business Security Services management console.

Go to the Configure Policy page by performing one of the following:
- Classic Mode: Go to SECURITY AGENTS and select a group. Click the Menu icon (three vertical dots) > Configure Policy.
- Advanced Mode: Go to POLICIES > Policy Management. Click Add or click an existing policy.

Go to Scan Exclusions.

Under Spyware/Grayware, click Add.
- Type the detection name on the search field.

Put a check on the corresponding detection name and click Add.
- Click Save.
