Question 1: From the SMS, is the GUI reboot button under Device Configuration, a soft or hard (full) reboot?

Answer: From the SMS GUI client and under each individual device's configuration, the reboot button performs a warm reboot.

Question 2: From the LSM, is the reboot button a soft or hard (full) reboot?

Answer: From the LSM, the reboot button performs a warm reboot.

Question 3: Is power off and on a soft or hard (full) reboot?

Answer: Using the IPS chassis power button, you may power-off and power-on the IPS. This may also be considered a hard, full reboot. It is not recommended to perform a hard, full reboot using this method unless absolutely necessary as it may result in the loss of data since the IPS device will not have the opportunity to appropriately halt and power-down.

Below are additional IPS CLI commands:

  • Warm reboot:
    reboot
  • Full reboot:
    reboot -full
