"Failed to create (500)" error shows when exporting Deep Security Relay update bundle

Summary

A newly installed Deep Security Relay (DSR) gets the warning "Failed to create (500)" when you manually export the update bundle from the Deep Security Manager (DSM) where the DSR is also installed. Exporting the update bundle is intended to move to another DSM in an air-gapped environment.

The issue occurs because the DataFolder for Deep Security Agent debug and export logging was changed from the registry entry.

To resolve the issue:

  1. Restore the DataFolder entry from D:\Program Files\Trend Micro\Deep Security Agent\Data_Path to C:\ProgramData\Trend Micro\Deep Security Agent\Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\TrendMicro\Deep Security Agent.
  2. Restart the Deep Security Agent service and perform re-activation.
     
    Redirecting the export package and logs of Deep Security Agent is not supported.
  3. Use the dsa_control command tool to perform the update package export.
     
    Self-protect feature may prevent you from copying or deleting any files from the default logging location of Deep Security Agent C:\ProgramData.

The Deep Security Relay update bundle will be successfully exported.
