What is Trend Micro Beta Portal?

Trend Micro Beta Portal is the website that allows testers to create a Beta Portal account that gives access to test the next generation Trend Micro builds and products before its commercial release. Beta Testers should read and agree to the Trend Micro Pre-Release Beta Test Agreement before taking the test.

Is my email address secure if I register?

Yes.

Can I use my Trend Micro account or My Support account to log in to the Beta Portal?

No, the tester is required to create a separate account for the Beta Portal.

Can I unsubscribe to email notifications from Trend Micro Beta Portal?

Yes. Log in to you Trend Micro Beta Portal account, then go to My Account Settings. Click on Edit Account and go to the Notification Settings tab to edit your email subscription settings.

How do I deactivate my Trend Micro Beta Portal Account?

To deactivate your Trend Micro Beta Account:

  1. Click the avatar at the upper-right corner of the Trend Micro Beta Portal.
  2. Select My Account Settings from the drop-down list.
  3. Go to Notification Settings tab.
  4. Switch on the Deactivate Account button.

Deactivating your account will remove all your account information from the Trend Micro Beta Portal. Once deactivated, you will no longer receive emails and notifications from Trend Micro Beta. You will not be permitted to use the same email if you try to register again on this site.

What is Trend Micro Beta Program?

It is a program organized by the Trend Micro Beta Team to ensure a real-world testing of Trend Micro products in a wide range of environments, including prior arrangement, case-to-case basis, and customer’s test and/or production environment. The program aims to identify and address issues encountered with the test product prior to its release.

What are the benefits of joining a Trend Micro Beta Program?

The benefits are as follows:

  • Gain an insight into the new features and technologies of Trend Micro products.
  • Improve customer experience by reporting errors, sharing ideas, and providing suggestions.
  • Get a chance to receive incentives for critical bugs that are submitted and resolved.

How long does a Trend Micro Beta Program run?

The beta period varies for each Beta Program. There are programs that run for several months while others run just for a few weeks.

What are the common Beta Programs?

Trend Micro has various security product solutions ranging from Home User to Enterprise level, and the enhancement differs on each security solution. With this, we highly encourage to visit our Beta Portal to check which specific product is open for beta test.

When will the beta package be available?

Availability of the beta package will be announced to all qualified beta testers at the start of the program.

Where can I get the beta package?

The beta packages are distributed through the Beta Portal Download page of a specific Beta Program. It is accessible to the registered Beta Portal users.

How do I test the Trend Micro Beta Build?

To completely test the Trend Micro Beta Build, we recommend to follow the beta test script provided online. After completing the test script, we highly encourage all our testers to proceed on the free-hand testing to explore the product, identify critical bugs, and familiarize the features prior to its official release.

How long does it take to complete the test script?

The test duration varies per Beta Program, it may take an hour to number of days to complete the whole test script.

Is it required to complete the test script?

We highly recommend to submit a completed test script to fully assess the product and experience its new features and enhancements.

How do I provide my feedback to Trend Micro Beta?

Feel free to send us your feedback such as bug reports, feature requests, product comparisons, quotes, suggestions, and testimonials through the Beta Test Script and Contact Us form in the Beta Portal.

Will I receive a reward for joining and completing a beta test?

Trend Micro may or may not offer an incentive as a reward depending on the Beta Program. For programs with incentives, a certain criteria must be met. You may refer to the Terms and Conditions applied for each Beta Program.

What is expected from me after the beta phase?

After beta, it is highly recommended to uninstall the Beta Build and switch back to the Official Build to continue the security protection.

When will the Official Build be released?

The official version of the product is usually released a few months after the beta period has ended. An announcement is posted on the Trend Micro Support Portal once the released version becomes available. All customers who are registered on the support portal and subscribed through email notification shall receive this email announcement.

Who do I contact for beta-related concerns?

All beta concerns are addressed and supported by the Beta Team.

How much support will be provided during a Beta Program?

The Beta Team will provide support in:

  • assisting all aspects of installation,
  • deployment,
  • distributing download packages,
  • providing available solutions, and
  • recovery planning (rollback).

When will the feature requests be addressed?

The collected feature requests, either minor or major, are all taken into consideration by the back-end development team. On that account, each request could be included on the product upon the approval of the concerned party.

Can I open a support ticket with Technical Support Team as an alternative option?

The Technical Support Team handles and provides information for the currently released build. On the other hand, the Beta Build products are solely managed by the Beta Team. Concerns for beta products are all addressed by the Beta Team throughout the beta period. Any issues after the beta period will be taken care of the Technical Support Team.

What is the difference between the Beta Build and the Official Build?

The Beta Build is a software that consists enhancements of existing features, components, and new features added. It is to be tested by select participants in order to identify and fix possible concerns as much as possible before public release. Meanwhile, the Official Build of the product is the final version and cannot be altered unless it is a critical finding.

How do I know if the beta version is compatible with my environment?

It is required to review the minimum system requirements for each beta product build to check the compatibility with your environment.

What is the recommended type of environment to use for beta version?

Any environment can be used as long as it meets the minimum system requirements. We highly recommend to have a backup or a restore point in place before using the beta version.

How do I migrate/upgrade to beta version?

The Beta Test Script includes the guide on how to migrate or upgrade the current version to the beta version. If not included on the test script, an installation guide will be provided.

What do I need to prepare prior to the installation of the beta version?

It is important to back up your current settings prior to beta testing. The backup procedure may vary on each product. Here are the common ways to prepare for beta testing the product:

  1. Back up the configuration files and folder located in the {Server Installation Folder}\ directory.
  2. Export and restore from the console via Administration > System Maintenance > Backup / Restore.
  3. Perform the regular backup of database.

How long will the beta license be available?

Beta license duration depends on the beta period of the Trend Micro Beta Product. Please check the Beta Portal page of the product you want to join.

What will happen if the beta license expires?

The beta build will stop receiving pattern and component updates. We recommend to uninstall the beta version of the product and install the official version.

Can I extend my beta license?

No, it is recommended to switch back to official build. For testers without existing license, you may purchase the official version release using the links below:

Is there a License Management Platform (LMP) for Beta?

None, the Trend Micro Licensing Management Platform is used by partners, such as Resellers and Managed Service Providers (MSPs), to easily manage and issue licenses for Trend Micro products. It includes branding settings used to customize the platform.

What is the Customer Licensing Portal (CLP) site used for Beta?

To access your Beta CLP account, please refer to this link. Customer Licensing Portal helps you manage your accounts, customer information, and subscriptions, including those that you manage.

What account should I use to log in to the Beta Customer Licensing Portal (CLP)?

Access the Beta CLP using your Beta CLP account. Your production account will not work on the Beta CLP.

Who can participate?

For Home Users, anyone can join a Beta Program as long as the minimum system requirements are met.

For Small & Medium Business and Enterprise Beta Programs, a pre-qualifying survey is conducted to filter and select only the qualified testers based on their profile, the product(s) they're using, and their environment setup.

How do I participate in a Trend Micro Beta Program?

Here are the general steps to participate in a Trend Micro Beta Program:

  1. Create your own account in the Trend Micro Beta Portal.
  2. Complete the pre-registration survey of the Beta Program (if required).
  3. Download the beta package from the Beta Program page. For Beta SaaS Programs, follow the test script to provision an account.
  4. Follow the test script to test the new features.
  5. Report bugs and replication procedures.
  6. Complete and submit the test scripts on or before the specified end date of the Beta Program.

Do I have to pay a fee or buy a software to join the program?

No purchase or payment fee is necessary to join the Beta Program.

Where can I find more information on how to manually apply or roll back VSAPI?

The procedure to manually apply or rollback the VSAPI is included on the test script.
