What’s Happening

After renaming an existing endpoint group in Endpoint Inventory, the group may stop appearing in the group list shortly afterward. You will not be able to select it to move devices into, or to apply policies to. If you try to create a new group using the same name, you’ll receive a “group already exists” error.

Who Is Affected

This affects endpoint groups that are renamed after creation, on instances running the July build or later that have not yet received the fix. Newly created groups that are never renamed are not impacted, and creating groups continues to work as expected.

Recommended Action

Until the fix is deployed to your instance, TrendAI recommends avoiding renaming existing endpoint groups. If you need a group under a different name, delete the existing group and create a new one with the desired name, rather than renaming it.

Resolution Status

The root cause has been identified and the fix has been merged.

  • Batch 2 and Batch 3 instances will receive the fix as part of their originally scheduled maintenance.
  • Batch 1 instances did not receive the fix during their August 5 maintenance window and will require an additional out-of-band maintenance on August 19 to receive it.

This out-of-band update does not require deploying new agent modules, and no endpoint restart or reboot is required.

If you have already been affected by this issue, please reach out to your support contact so TrendAI can help restore visibility of the affected group(s).
