How do I change the IP address on the SMS?

CAUTION: Changing the IP address on the SMS will cause the SMS/device management relationship to fail. It is recommended that any managed device be un-managed prior to changing the IP address and once the address has been changed, re-manage the IPS devices. In addition you will loose SMS connectivity (SSH or Browser) after the reboot.

Procedure

  1. Log in to the SMS from a client.
  2. On the SMS toolbar, navigate to the Admin->Server Properties tab.
  3. Select the Network tab.
  4. In the Network Interface area enter the desired information:
    • IP Address
    • Subnet Mask
    • Gateway
    • IPv6 Address (if required)
    • Default Router (if required)
  5. Click Apply.

     


    IPv6 Information

    Note 1: SMS High Availability (HA) is not supported with IPv6. If the SMS is IPv6 only, the HA configuration button will display an error when selected.

    Note 2: The TMC service does not support IPv6. An SMS operating in IPv6-only mode will not be able to contact the TMC, unless the SMS IP address is NAT-ed or uses a proxy that has NAT configured.
