Summary
The Security Management System (SMS) displays device events, but the SMS truncates the logs to 1 year. In other words the old data is coming from the device and in order to clean that data the device logs will have to be reset.
Details
To clear device logs via the SMS
- Login to the SMS Client
- On the Devices screen, expand the All Devices in the navigation pane and select a device
- Do one of the following:
- On the top menu bar, select the Edit > Reset Device menu item
- Right click and select Edit > Reset Device
- Select the log you want to reset. The Reset Device > All Logs option resets all logs except the audit log. To clear the audit log, you must specifically select the Reset Device > Audit Log menu option.
Note: This option clears the system and audit logs from the IPS but does NOT remove these logs from the SMS.
