Rebooting a device from the SMS!

Summary
You may need to reboot a device to perform actions or to refresh the device. These actions include software update procedures and power supply replacement procedures. When you reboot a system through the SMS, you perform a warm boot. The device shuts down and restarts immediately. This type of reboot is not a power cycle. When you perform a power cycle, you disconnect the power from the device and wait ten (10) seconds prior to turning the device on.

How To: Reboot a Device

  1. Log in to the SMS from a client.
  2. On the SMS toolbar, navigate to the Devices > All Devices tab screen.
  3. From the list of displayed devices select a device and do one of the following:
    • Highlight the device, right click and select Edit > Reboot
    • Highlight the device, right click and select Edit > Device Configuration. From the Device Configuration screen click Reboot.
    • Highlight a device and on the top menu bar, select Edit > Details > Device Configuration. From the Device Configuration screen click Reboot.
  4. The device reboots.
