Currently at least 12GB of memory for all vSMS deployments is recommended. Additional memory can be allocated to existing deployments via the hypervisor, however this will require a reboot of the SMS.
Customers managing NGFW or SecBlade and using DV v2.5 or Traffic Threshold Filters
NGFW Products: End of support for NGFW products was announced on December 17, 2015 (Ref. PB# 1057). SMS management support and related bug fixes and patches for NGFW management will continue through the end of support period (January 31, 2019) for the NGFW hardware, however future SMS feature releases introduced after December 31, 2017 may remove support for NGFW management.
SecBlade: S1200N SecBlade IPS support has ended as of June 30, 2017 (Ref. PB #1035), as such, future SMS release beyond this date will not include support for management of this product. As this is the only product that uses the 2.5 version of the DV, future SMS releases will also remove support for using the 2.5 DV format.
E-Series IPS Models: Support for E-Series IPS Models and related TOS versions and related features specific to those models such as Traffic Threshold Filters ended in 2014 (Ref. PB# 1018). Future releases of the SMS beyond the date of this announcement will not support those IPS models and model specific features such as Traffic Threshold Filters. Those IPS and configurations may be removed during future SMS software migration / upgrades.
Details on end of management support and the content of SMS releases can always be found in the release notes for each SMS release.
