Subject: SMS TOS Version Upgrades Not Visible in the UI

Date of Announcement: December 18, 2020

Summary: A non-critical error exists within the SMS UI that removed the SMS functionality to display an operating system upgrade availability in the 'Available for Download' section (Admin > General) of the system menu. This error only affects the automated SMS TOS detection function; it does not affect SMS patches, SMS manual upgrades, Intrusion Protection System (IPS), Threat Protection System (TPS), Digital Vaccine (DV), or Threat DV upgrades.

Affected Versions:
  • SMS 5.3.0
  • SMS 5.3.0 Patch 1
  • SMS 5.3.0 Patch 2
  • SMS 5.4.0

Workaround: Manually download the SMS upgrade software from the Threat Management Center (TMC) website and perform an 'Import and Install' function from the SMS.

Resolution: The fix for this error will be included in the following releases:
  • SMS 5.3.0 Patch 3
  • SMS 5.4.0 Patch 1
  • SMS 5.4.1 (released)
