These settings complement the recommendations given in the Best practices in configuring OfficeScan (OSCE) for malware protection KB article.

  1. Scan Exclusion setting

    Configure Scan Exclusion settings by following the steps in this article: Recommended scan exclusion list for OfficeScan and Worry-Free Business Security.

  2. Scan Cache setting

    Enable digital signature cache & on-demand scan cache.

  3. Network Drive Scan setting

    Disable network drive scan if not needed.

    "Scan network drive" is only available for Real-time and Manual Scan

  4. Scan compressed files/Scan OLE objects setting

    Check if there's a high number of maximum layers to be scanned for compressed files or OLE objects.

  5. CPU Usage setting

    Set CPU Usage setting to High. This will allow OfficeScan to use system resources for intensive scanning.

    Other applications may experience performance issues.
  6. Unauthorized Change Prevention Service setting

    Disable Unauthorized Change Prevention Service if the following features are not used:

    • Behavior Monitoring
    • Device Control
    • Client Self Protection

    This service may affect the overall system performance.
  7. Data Protection Service setting

    Disable Data Protection Service if not needed.
