The error message occurs because the Windows Firewall in Server 2008 is enabled by default. To resolve this issue, you need to disable the Firewall or unblock port 16372 TCP, which is used to access the console in both directions.
To disable the Firewall:
- Go to Start > Administrative Tools > Windows Firewall with Advance Security.
- Highlight Windows Firewall with Advanced Security in the left panel.
- Navigate to Windows Firewall Properties.
- In the Firewall state drop-down list, select off and then click OK.
- Close the Windows Firewall window.
To open Port 16372:
- Go to Start > Administrative Tools > Windows Firewall with Advance Security.
- Highlight the following in the left panel:
- Windows Firewall with Advanced Security
- Inbound Rules
- Click New Rule in the right panel.
- Select Port in the Rule Type Window and then click Next.
- Select TCP and Specific Local ports in the next screen that will appear.
- Type "16372" in the Port field and then click Next.
- Select Allow the connection and then click Next.
- Make the appropriate selections according to your network security policies and then click Next.
- Provide a name to the new rule and a description (optional) and then click Finish.
- Highlight Outbound Rules in the left panel.
- Repeat steps 3-9.
