To prevent unauthorized password reset, enforce security measures that will restrict access to the physical machine or the VM's console.

To change the root password:

  1. Boot the system from the IWSVA installation CD.
  2. Choose “2. System Recovery”.

  3. Select the desired installation language.

  4. Press F12 to select the next screen.

     

  5. Press F12 to select the next screen.

     

  6. Select Continue.

     

  7. Select Continue.

  8. Select Continue.

     

  9. Take note of the command to change to the root environment. Press ESC to return to get to the shell.

     

  10. Type the command specified to get to the root directory. By default it is “chroot  /mnt/sysimage”.

     

  11. Type “passwd”.

     

  12. Type the new password.

     

  13. Retype the new password to confirm.

     

  14. Type “exit”  to leave the root directory. Type “exit” again to leave shell. It will automatically restart the IWSVA.
