  1. Configure the ESX host to synchronize with a reliable NTP server. You may refer to this VMware Knowledge Base article: Configuring Network Time Protocol (NTP) on ESX/ESXi hosts using the vSphere Client (2012069)
  2. Configure the guest VM to synchronize time with ESX.
    1. In the VM's configuration, go to Edit Settings > Options > VMware tools.
    2. Tick the synchronise guest time with host box.
  3. Wait for five (5) minutes for the VM to synchronize time with ESX. Test if the VMs are synchronizing properly with ESX's time by checking the following:

    On Windows or Linux guests:

    1. Open the clock on the VM.
    2. From vCenter, open the ESX's clock.
      1. Click on the ESX, and then go to Configuration tab.
      2. In the Time Configuration on the left frame, you will see “General: Date & Time”. Click Refresh to compare the ESX's time with the VM's clock.

EXS’s time and the VM’s clock should be a perfect match.

On a Deep Security Virtual Appliance (DSVA):

    1. In the console, open the non-graphical layout (with ALT + F2).
    2. Log on with DSVA.
    3. From vCenter, open the ESX's clock.
      1. Click on the ESX, and then go to Configuration tab.
      2. In the Time Configuration on the left frame, you will see “General: Date & Time”. Click Refresh to compare the ESX's time with the DSVA's clock.
    4. From DSVA console, enter "date" command.

ESX's time and the DSVA's clock should be a perfect match.
