Backing up the database

To back up the database:

  1. On the Apex One server, stop the Apex One Master Service to prevent database modification during back up.
  2. Connect to the SQL Server using Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio tool.

  3. Right-click the Apex One database object and select Tasks.
  4. Click Back Up.

  5. Configure the settings of your backup and click OK to start the process. You can refer to Microsoft SQL Server documentation to know the recommended settings.

  6. Find the database backup copy in the backup destination you set in the previous step.
  7. Restart the Apex One Master Service.

Restoring the database

To restore the database after a failed migration:

 
You can only restore an Apex One database that has the same Database Schema as the currently used Apex One database. For example, you cannot restore a database backup from Apex One GM to Apex One SP1 database.
 
  1. On target Apex One server, stop the Apex One Master Service.
  2. Connect to the SQL Server using the Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio tool.

  3. Right-click the Apex One database object and select Tasks.
  4. Click Restore > Database.

  5. Configure the restoration settings:
    1. Select Device as the source.
    2. Choose the backup file as the source file.
    3. Select the destination database.
    4. In the Backup sets to restore section, select the backup set from your backup file.
    5. Click OK to start the process.

  1. On the Apex Central server, stop the Trend Micro Apex Central Service to prevent database modification during back up.
  2. Connect to the SQL Server using Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio tool.

  3. Right-click the Apex Central database object and select Tasks.
  4. Click Back Up.

  5. Configure the settings of your backup and click OK to start the process. You can refer to Microsoft SQL Server documentation to know the recommended settings.

  6. Find the database backup copy in the backup destination you set in the previous step.
  7. Restart the Trend Micro Apex Central Service.

    • Select Device as the source.
    • Choose the backup file as the source file.
    • Select the destination database.
    • In the Backup sets to restore section, select the backup set from your backup file.
    • Click OK to start the process.
