  • SQL Server 2016
  • SQL Server 2014

SMEX 12.5 and 14.0 support both SQL Server account and Windows account to access the remote SQL server during installation.

To prevent permission issues when installing SMEX, the account used for installation should have the following privileges:

  • If you choose to use Remote SQL Server Windows Authentication option, it is a best practice to use same domain account for Setup Account and Database Access Account.
  • SMEX 11.0 only supports SQL Server account to access remote SQL server during installation.
  • If only TLS 1.2 is enabled on your server, ensure that SMEX and your SQL Server can support TLS 1.2. Refer to KB 1119104 for details.
